Systems Engineer (Escape-Room Style Show Control)

Team: Physical World Builder I Location: Memphis, TN (onsite preferred)
Engagement: Contract · 1099

What you’ll do:

  • Design and wire reliable control systems (buttons, RFID, dials, LEDs, relays, audio, E-stops).

  • Bridge hardware ↔ software (DMX/OSC/serial/GPIO) for synchronized effects and screens.

  • Produce I/O maps, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and maintenance SOPs; commission and test.

  • Build for uptime, safety, and easy operator handoff.

What you bring:

  • Show-control/attraction or escape-room experience.

  • Low-voltage literacy; DMX/OSC/GPIO/relays; tidy cable management.

  • Clear documentation and a safety-first mindset.

Systems Manager (Operations & Maintenance Leadership)

Team: Physical World Builder · Location: Memphis, TN (onsite, full-time preferred)
Engagement: Contract · 1099 (potential long-term)

Highlights:

  • Oversee daily systems and long-term maintenance of all attractions

  • Lead construction and new build projects from start to finish

  • Ensure all experiences meet high standards of durability, safety, and immersion

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with designers and engineers on game, set, and prop design for new builds.

  • Manage all aspects of new builds including carpentry, scenic art, low-voltage tech, and fabrication.

  • Adhere to budget and schedule, delivering functional, durable, and immersive results.

  • Conduct weekly reporting: document progress, solved issues, upcoming needs, and material planning.

  • Maintain tools, workshop organization, and full inventory of supplies and backups.

  • Perform routine inspections and quality checks on active experiences; repair or refresh props and scenic elements as needed.

  • Develop and maintain backup systems and redundancy plans for critical props and effects.

  • Lead or supervise contractors and technicians during installation and maintenance.

  • Research vendors and industry trends; integrate improvements and innovations.

  • Ensure the workshop is safe, tidy, and stocked for both ongoing maintenance and new builds.

  • Stay current with best practices by attending trade shows, events, and market research.

What you bring:

  • Prior management or supervisory experience (preferred).

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience in carpentry, scenic art, painting, low-voltage wiring, and fabrication.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to safety and quality.

  • Flexible availability (some evenings/weekends/holidays may be required).

DIGITAL WORLD BUILDERS TEAM

UI/UX Designer (HUD & Interaction Systems)

Team: Digital World Builder · Location: Memphis, TN (hybrid possible)

What you’ll do:

  • Design HUD systems across various interactive displays—diegetic UI that matches the world/area the guest is in.

  • Build flows/wireframes → visual states → motion comps; deliver dev-ready assets (atlases/sprites).

  • Specify interaction patterns (idle/active/error/recover) and accessibility notes.

  • Partner with Interactive Developer (Raspberry Pi/Arduino) and 3D teams so UI fits consoles/props and reads clearly in space.

What you bring:

  • Systems/UI experience for games, sims, or installations.

  • Strong typography/iconography, motion sense, and crisp spec handoffs (Figma/AE or similar).

  • Comfort collaborating with hardware/embedded teams and environment artists.

Interactive Developer (Raspberry Pi / Arduino Kiosks)

Team: Digital World Builder · Location: Memphis, TN (onsite preferred)
Engagement: Contract · 1099

What you’ll do:

  • Build interactive station apps on Raspberry Pi (and occasional Mac mini) in kiosk mode (touchscreens, audio, video).

  • Integrate Arduino-class microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino/Teensy) via serial/GPIO/I²C/SPI to read inputs and drive LEDs/relays.

  • Implement state logic, simple UIs (HTML5/JS/Electron or Python/PySide), local data logging, and watchdog/restart routines.

  • Expose control endpoints (WebSocket/OSC/UDP) for show control; document install and recovery steps.

What you bring:

  • Hands-on with Pi OS, GPIO, microcontroller firmware (C/C++), and one app stack (JS/Electron or Python).

  • Comfort with sensors, debouncing, audio routing, and kiosk hardening.

3D Designer — Stations & Props

What you’ll do:

  • Model/UV/texture station props (incl. weapons/console parts) using references and provided asset packs.

  • Deliver engine-ready assets (clean pivots, collision, LODs, atlases).

  • Reserve space for screens/labels; align with UI/UX specs.

  • Iterate quickly while maintaining a consistent visual language.

What you bring:

  • Game-ready prop workflow (Blender/Maya + Substance); optimization and clean organization.

3D Generalist (Environments + Characters, Unreal Engine 5)

Team: Digital World Builder · Location: Memphis, TN (hybrid/onsite)
Engagement: Contract · 1099

What you’ll do:

  • Environments: Assemble “Environmental Window” cityscapes in UE5 from provided asset packs; set dress, add simple vehicle/ambient motion, weather/time-of-day cycles, and loopable scenes; set up believable lighting using our sky/atmospherics tools.

  • Optimization: LODs/instancing/culling, clean pivots/collision, tidy naming and folders, perf-minded builds.

  • Characters (existing assets): Retarget motion to project rigs; author short idle/attention/alert loops; make light mesh/material tweaks and re-textures; add subtle enhancement passes (eye glints, breathing, emissives).

  • Integration: Hand off clean UE content for screens/ride plates; collaborate with UI/UX for diegetic readability and with Embedded/Interactive for triggers and states; document setup and versioning.

What you bring:

  • Strong UE5 environment assembly/set dressing + lighting fundamentals.

  • Retargeting/rigging basics and Animation Blueprints/state machines/blendspaces.

  • DCC fluency (Blender/Maya, Substance); organization and optimization discipline.

  • Bonus: Niagara/VFX decals, Sequencer familiarity, basic profiling.

Lighting & Cinematic 3D Generalist — Ride Simulator (Unreal Engine 5)

What you’ll do:

  • Take our previs and existing assets to shot-final ride plates (front + side windows) in Unreal Engine 5.

  • Build Sequencer timelines; set a 3-camera rig; stage beats and transitions.

  • Craft dramatic, readable lighting; add tasteful VFX/decals; polish set dressing.

  • Configure Movie Render Queue (Unreal’s high-quality renderer) for clean image-sequence output.

What you bring:

Strong reel in UE lighting/cinematics; Sequencer mastery; prior ride/sim/cinematic delivery a plus.

Interactive Media Designer (Notch / TouchDesigner)

What you’ll do:

  • Create interactive visual content for projection-mapped and screen-based moments using Notch and/or TouchDesigner.

  • Build reusable visual systems (generators, effects, transitions) that respond to inputs (sensors, buttons, GPIO/OSC/DMX).

  • Handle calibration/alignment workflows with the team; deliver operator-friendly controls and presets.

  • Profile and optimize for smooth playback; document setups and recovery steps.

What you bring:

  • Portfolio with interactive motion pieces in Notch/TouchDesigner.

  • Comfort wiring inputs/parameters to visuals (OSC/DMX/serial/WebSocket).

  • Strong motion/visual sense and clean real-time graph organization.

  • Bonus: media-server or projection lineup experience.

Deliverables:

  • Notch/TouchDesigner project files, mappings/calibration data, operator controls, short ops doc.
