That’s exactly what Baron Von Opperbean and the River of Time (BVO) will let you and your friends do! BVO is an 33,000-square-foot immersive playground and interactive experience in development at Mud Island. In its simplest form, BVO is a “choose-your-own-adventure” experience full of discovery and wonder. Think Doctor Who meets Indiana Jones in a world that blends magic, science, and the multiverse. This isn’t a traditional museum or theme park – it’s a mixed-media adventure that spans multiple universes – all inside the former site of Mud Island’s river museum in downtown Memphis.

BVO is the first immersive experience of its scale in the Southern U.S. – a multiverse-spanning world brought to life by local artists and visionaries through a fusion of art, storytelling, and technology. The result will be like an open-world video game in a real-world space, where visitors aren’t just observers, but active participants in the story. It’s playground meets story, meets game, meets entertainment – all rolled into one cutting-edge experience.

With build-out underway, excitement is growing. This project doesn’t just add a new attraction to Memphis – it represents a bold vision of experiential entertainment. By reimagining an iconic civic asset (Mud Island’s river museum) instead of building from scratch, BVO showcases innovation through adaptive reuse of a treasure civic space, use of recycled materials and creative transformation.
