A Memphis-made musical transforms BVO into a living, breathing rat underworld.
On October 20, BVO welcomed Rats the Musical for a one-of-a-kind immersive reading that brought live theater, music, and storytelling into the heart of the experience.
Created by Memphis playwright and composer Emily Rooker, Rats the Musical follows three roommates who unexpectedly transform into rats and find themselves navigating the underground world of a futuristic Memphis.
For one unforgettable evening, that world came to life at BVO.
As local actors performed throughout the space, guests explored the experience while following the story through a synchronized audio system. Custom imagery across BVO's screens helped transform the environment into the world of Rats, creating a theatrical experience that unfolded all around the audience.
It was a first for BVO, transforming the entire experience into a live theatrical environment and opening exciting possibilities for future performances and creative collaborations.
A huge congratulations to Emily Rooker, the talented cast, and everyone who brought Rats the Musical to life! We're grateful to have played a part in this creative Memphis production and thrilled to celebrate its success.
